SF Cutters has been around since March of 2000 with monthly meetings in downtown San Francisco on tools, techniques, Q&A, etc. for using Final Cut Pro. It is the first Final Cut Pro users group.

For the upcoming October 25th meeting I will talk for about 20 minutes on different methods to present your videos on web pages. These methods — such as using Dreamweaver, podpress, blip.tv, revver, etc. — will be compared to my open source utility vPIP (video Playing In Place) . If this topic is of interest, please come and ask questions and talk to me afterwards.

The event starts at 6:30 pm at dvGarage – 785 Market San Francisco. There’s a $5.00 charge for pizza and a raffle ticket to win a prizes. The other speakers are Larry Jordan, Ethan Markowitz of Jungle Software, John Dalton of Synthetik Software, Joel Hinojosa and Paul Kalbach.

  1. Can I use vpip in dreamweaver? Also, is it possible to use layers to embed the clips like a gallery. I want users to view different videos in the same window in the same spot by clicking on the thumbnail preview… no page reload, no scrolling around.

  2. pol:

Yes, you should be able to use vPIP in Dreamweaver. Follow the General Installation:

    http://vpip.org/home/vpip-general-installation/

You could use layers, but vPIP already handles having multiple videos appear in one container (the one having the “hVlogTarget” class). The code generator on the Using vPIP page does this with multiple video formats:

    http://vpip.org/home/using-vpip/

Details of the parameters are lower down the page.

and there’s an example of a playlist at:

    http://vpip.org/test-pages/vpip-test-page/#playlist

Let me know if there’s more questions.
