Geek Dinner at Fellini (Oct 24th, 2005)

Length: 6:05

Dave Winer threw a Geek Dinner at Fellini Restaurant in Berkeley for Robert Scoble.  It was at the back of the resaurant which was had a few posters and movie stills from the films of one of my favorite filmakers, Federico Fellini

It was a bit crowded since the space for schmoozing was relatively narrow between the tables and bar.  But no one seemed to mind much and there was much animated conversation.

Featured in the video are:

  1. Matt Mullenweg, orginator of WordPress
  2. Marc Canter, founder and CEO of Broadband Mechanics which released Ourmedia
  3. Don Hopkins, Sims object developer
    and
  4. Gabe Rivera of Memeorandum

OPML Editor Presentation

There hasn’t been a lot of views of the shorts I’ve edited of Dave Winer’s presentation of OPML Editor. So I’m going to halt on them for now. Let me know if you’d like the rest done, otherwise I’ve got a few things to get busy on.

Thanks.

Discourse Vlogs

I’ve been documenting some art and tech related events. This has been somewhat unstructured: See what happens and put it together. I do generally know what event is about, type of people will be there and such.

Now I’d like to take a more directed approach selecting a particular question and interview people on different and sometimes opposing aspects of it: Discourse vlogs. One of the dictionary definitions of discourse is:

A formal, lengthy discussion of a subject, either written or spoken.

In this case it’s also visual.

Today, on the Videoblogging Flash Meeting, Bill Streeter replied to a talk on sharing on the internet is “stealing” that it wasn’t actually stealing, but copyright infringement. That stealing is of a singular, physical item, not a infinitely reproducible digital intellectual property in the form of music, video, etc. This intrigued me so I thought I’d take that up for a vlog discourse.

First I’m going to read some articles off Lawrence Lessig’s site:

And then I wanted to look for writing with different and opposing points of views.

My questions to the reader is:

  • Are there any other articles and/or books by Lessig I should read?
  • Which authors with other and opposing views should I consume?
  • I’m going to try to interview Lawrence Lessig. Who else would be good to interview?

Please put any input in the comments area.

Thank you.
